The new 44,000 square foot complex will be known as Riverside Landing at Bass Pro and will feature a new shopping center, restaurants and office space. Officials project it could generate more than $5 million in tax revenue for the city.
“The long awaited re-development of the S. Range Bass Pro hard corner is a reality,” said Denham Springs Mayor Gerard Landry.
The top floor will be the new home of Mahee Productions’ international film studio. The state-of-the-are facility will be 11,400 square feet. It will include pre-production, post-production and a marketing and sales department.
Mayor Gerald Landry said this type of complex will bring more jobs to Denham Springs. Owners of the film studio said they will potentially employ 20 to 30 people from the area.
“The things that I wanted to bring to the city was more office space for more opportunities for employment,” Landry said. “This will be professional office space, doctors’ offices, architects and that sort of thing. It’s a great opportunity for all of our people here.”
Joe Moore, the Division Director for Re/Max First Commercial, says that the Denham Springs area is seeing “astronomical growth”, and hopes to work with city officials to construct more exit and entrance ramps for I-12 at 4-H Club Road. Moore provided statistics showing that the number of cars getting off of the Range Avenue exit reached 44,000 per day in 2014.
Builders assured the public that all funds for the center’s construction will be private and secured by the developer, Carlisle Place Development, LLC.
Construction is scheduled to start in the fall and wrap up next spring.
